Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun responds to rumors of him retiring from the company. A few hours ago (28th of January, 2022), Wang Hua, the general manager for Xiaomi Public Relations, went the opportunity to Weibo (a Chinese microblogging website) to clarify the story of the CEO of the company, Lei Jun, stepping out of his chairmanship.

Many people had misinterpreted the news to mean that Jun has decided to leave the company entirely, however, the CEO has since offered clarification. Internet users in China have recently learned that Lei Jun had resigned from his post as Chairman of Beijing Xiaomi Electronic Products Co Ltd. But, this was misinterpreted to mean that he was resigning as a member of Xiaomi.

Xiaomi Group entirely. So the Xiaomi’s general manager PR confirmed it was Lei Jun has resigned from his position as the head of the electronics division and is not leaving the Chinese tech giant. The executive has shifted his attention on the auto manufacturing plans. Like Wang Hua’s remarks, Lei Jun also offered additional clarifications on his Weibo account.

In his social media post Lei Jun stated the Xiaomi Group has a large number of subsidiaries. So, its not uncommon for the board of directors and legal representatives of these subsidiaries to see a shuffling/adjustment. Jun declared that his decision to resign as chairmanship for Xiaomi Electronics should not be taken as a drastic change. Although the company is an important component of the brand, the overall group is more than just its consumer electronics.
